McNerney is a study of the gravestone shape called the necked discoid as it migrated from North Carolina to Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and into the midwest of Arkansas, Illinois, and Indiana.  This book is based on the Illinois sample.  The book is well illustrated with photos and graphics.  He even took his studies to Ireland and northern Britain.  While an in depth study, this book is still highly readable. 8.5 x 11 inches, Paperback.
